The DevilDog, which is to say me, has written several short stories over the years. They are an amusing diversion during times of stress, a way of forcing some discipline into the writing day when novels just seem like too much work, a creative outpouring for all the rum thoughts that pop into my head on those long country walks or in the quiet dead of the night.
I am a generous sort at heart. I like to share my toys. When I'm flush I'll stand my round at the bar and if I can do anything to help someone in their time of need, I'll try my best. So here, for your enjoyment free, gratis, are a selection of my random musings, collected over the last fifteen years or so. Enjoy them, pass them on to your friends, or start reading them and give up in disgust. I don't really mind what you do, as long as you don't try to pretend that you wrote them yourself. Stealing is wrong and it will come back to haunt you in the long run (in the dead of night, when you're alone in an old house, listening to the creaking and flexing of unseen ghosts on the floorboards and wondering how that pattern of dark brown stains got onto the walls and ceiling...)
In an effort to bring some sort of order to the chaos of my mind, I have organised the following stories into series. Some of these collections are more tenuous than others. I guess that's just the way these things go.
