Yes it's true. Just three scant days after the price was reduced to nothing, Natural Causes has hit number one in the UK Kindle Free Chart.
For those of you who like to know these things, that means more than 4000 people have downloaded a copy. Here's hoping some of you actually read it, and better yet enjoy the experience.
I'm hard at work on the next book in the series - The Book of Souls - and plans for the third - The Hangman's Song - are well advanced.
In the meantime, if you liked Inspector McLean, perhaps you might want to broaden your horizons and try out my other series - The Ballad of Sir Benfro.

As promised, the second instalment in the epic series, The Ballad of Sir Benfro, is here at last.
The Rose Cord sees our unlikely hero, Sir Benfro, fleeing the terror that is Inquisitor Melyn and the Warrior Priests of the Order of the High Ffrydd, deep into the ancient forest. But will the dangers that lurk there be worse than those he is running from?

Well, not new new, but at least new to the revamped site, and not seen in these parts for a while. Angel was a little something I whipped up for a competition. I can't remember what that competition was, but I do remember that I didn't win it. Or get short-listed. So maybe the story's not very good. I'll let you be the judge.

Dreamwalker has now had two reviews on Smashwords, both positive although the second didn't actually give the book a star rating. I'm grateful, of course, for any feedback, and it seems churlish to complain when someone is being nice, but the frank truth of it is stars count. The system ranks books by the average number of stars per review, so a review without stars actually hurts in the long run.
I'm not sure why the lack of stars - possibly a mistake, or it could be that the reader was so annoyed at not being able to find the sequel available anywhere he decided to award me no stars. All I can say is please be patient, people. The sequel to Dreamwalker, The Rose Cord, is undergoing final corrections and formatting and will be published in about a month's time (hopefully). In addition to writing these books, I am also trying to run a farm and build a house, so I can get a bit busy at times.
The first chapter of The Rose Cord appears at the end of Dreamwalker to whet your appetites. The rest of the book will be along soon. I promise. In the meantime go read some Robin Hobb or Joe Abercrombie or something.
